The Braeside Beacon - News You Can Use

Braeside Beacon
News You Can Use
Welcome to fall! So far it's been beautiful. Even as the days get colder and the snow starts to fly, Braeside has lots to do - indoors or outdoors!
Tonight we'll be hosting our Halloween Movie night. Doors open at 6 and the movie starts at 6:30pm. This year the featured movie is Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, a family/fantasy movie that is a little bit spooky, while also being upbeat, funny and sentimental! We will also be having a costume contest and more! It's free for Braeside members and $5 if you aren't! For more indoor fun, the BCA Book Nook is having a sale in early November (see below for details).
If you are more the outdoor type, we're getting ready for rink season - and could always use volunteers to help. For more information on what is involved, email rink@braesideyyc.ca for details.
We hope you are having a great October and we hope to see you soon at the BCA or out in the community!
See you soon,
The Braeside Community Association

Eco-Sanctuary Update
A New Garlic Box You'll Dig
There is nothing like the smell of fresh cut cedar planks on a warm Saturday afternoon. Thanks to the grit and determination of Mike, Brenda, Christina, Joy and Jessica, (part of the Braeside EcoSanctuary team) the community Garlic Box was completed earlier this month Only a few posts to be evened off, and we hope to get the dirt in this coming week. Without this team, we would be nowhere. I appreciate the effort to build better for the community and turn the Braeside ecosanctuary vision into reality. Thank you!

Water Restrictions begin November 4
Water restrictions are on the way! Don’t forget that starting November 1, the City of Calgary will be under Stage 4 water restrictions. This means avoiding outdoor water usage such as watering lawns and gardens, and more. Residents should also look for ways to conserve water indoors, including taking shorter showers, waiting until the dishwasher is full before running it (unless your dishwasher is a person and then they probably don’t want to run while full).
During the approximately four-week period, outdoor water restrictions and indoor water conservation is needed. Restrictions apply to all residents and businesses since everyone in Calgary will primarily be relying on only one water treatment plan to supply Calgary and parts of the region. Thank you in advance for doing your part!
